Summer Solstice Drumming and Jam Sessions

Even before the Summer Solstice Celebration moved to Soaring Eagle Retreat, the public attended open style drummings at the park and Soaring Eagle during the solstices. When FOSM moved to the location we were asked to incorperated the drumming into our Festival. After a few years, we started looking for Native American Drummers to play, so that the public could learn and understand the differences.

We have been blessed to find different groups that have educated the public to the different styles.

Native Drummers have taught about the large Powwow Drum - some are sacred (not to be touched or played by just anyone) and some are community drums (it can be played by all.)

Open Drum is for any style of percussion instrument - djembe, bongo, frame drum, hand drum, cummunity drum, tamberee, or rattles. Drumming connects one to the heartbeat of Mother Earth in all types of beats. The goal is to become one sound, one rythem, with our Mother Earth. There is an area for those who want to dance, hula hoop, or use other light up expressions of movement.
No nudity is allowed.

For 2019 there will be Open Drumming on Friday night, 9 pm - 11 pm.

Then on Saturday night there is an Open Mic/Jam Sessions, 9 pm - 11 pm. The first hour and a half we will offer open mic and then finish the night with an open jam for anyone who wants to join.
